We are taking part in the WALK FROM OBESITY event this coming Saturday in Myrtle Beach, SC.
If you want to join our team please see our team page
If you cannot attend but would like to donate (anything is appreciated) please click the general team donation button.
Funds generated from the event support the ASMBS Foundation and its research and professional education initiatives, and the patient and general public educational and advocacy programs of the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC).
Marty has several people in his family who either have had or are in the process of having weight loss surgery.
Although the thought passed through my brain for a few brief moments, I can not go through with that choice with less than 50 pounds to lose.
The OAC is an advocacy organization.
"About the OAC
The Obesity Action Coalition is an IRS registered 501(c)3 National non profit organization dedicated to giving a voice to those affected by obesity. The OAC was formed to build a nationwide coalition of patients to become active advocates and spread the important message of the need for obesity education.
To increase obesity education, the OAC offers a wide variety of free educational resources on obesity, morbid obesity and childhood obesity, in addition to consequences and treatments of these conditions. The OAC also conducts a variety of advocacy efforts throughout the U.S. on both the National and state levels, and encourages individuals to become proactive advocates."
In the OAC's weight loss options page they address several methods or teeatments for obesity. They list Behavior Modification and Physical Activity, Commercial Programs, Physician-supervised Weight-loss and Bariatric Surgery.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if FORM was regarded by everyone as THE commercial resource for weightloss.
Read more about the OAC and its efforts here.
We all know someone who is touched by obesity. Reach out with a KIND hand and help.
